What does the Spanish & Surf Program Include?
The program includes your Spanish lessons and two surf lessons per week. We will schedule the surf classes for you, usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays before or after your Spanish classes and depending on the tides.
Is it safe to surf in Nosara? Do I need any previous experience?
No previous surfing experience is required and the surf program hosts hundreds of students with little to no experience every year. With regards to safety, the surf instructors all hold CPR and First Aid certifications and have many years experience in the ocean teaching surfing. Playa Guiones also has two lifeguards on duty who monitor swimmers and surfers. You'll be in good hands for a safe and fun surfing experience.
Do I need to bring my own surfboard?
No, a board and rash guard (protective sun shirt) will be provided for the lessons. You can bring your own surfboard if you like though.
What should I bring to my surf lessons?
We recommend you bring sunscreen and some water and that's all you'll need!
How much is it?
The surf program is an additional $175.00 per week for two 1.5 hour lessons per week.
How far is the school from the beach?
Both the Spanish school campus and the surf school are within a 2 minute walk to the beach.
Is there good surf in Nosara? What are the waves like?
Yes — Nosara (especially Playa Guiones) is known for consistent, year‑round surf with gentle, well‑formed waves ideal for beginners and longboarders as well as more challenging breaks for experienced surfers. Water temp is about 80 degrees year-round.
